J.J. Abrams' Super 8 will be released on June 10, 2011
The movie is currently ishooting in Weirton, West Virginia and stars Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Ron Eldard and Amanda Michalka. Not much is known about the story, but it is said to be an homage to Steven Spielberg's earlier work such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Here's the only known plot details from a report back in September:
"It's a movie about a train wreck in a 1970s steel town -- focusing on how the community comes together to heal, according to sources."
The June 10 release date will put the movie against the Universal Pictures sequel Fast Five, which stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson, and the Warner Bros. comedy Something Borrowed starring Kate Hudson.
Super 8 was released June 10th, 2011 and stars Joel Courtney, Jessica Tuck, Joel McKinnon Miller, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, Riley Griffiths, Gabriel Basso, Kyle Chandler. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed this out...But I was watching "Close Encounters" a couple weeks back, and when Richard Dreyfuss is losing it in his Living Room, with the T.V. on, there is a Show playing...if you pay attention, it is Shot for Shot the same Crash Sceene involving a Train and Truck as in JJ's little teaser for Super 8...Check it out, I had to rewind it to be sure...

A train wreck? Really? I doubt that's as complicated as it gets. Something obviously escapes from that train, and there's no reason to call it "Super 8" if it's just about a train wreck. I'll keep waiting for an actual trailer, but still insanely excited.

Woo hooo!! Yaaaay!!!!
@BTodd945 - if you walk into a cinema expecting the Second Coming and all you get is a movie...yah, you'll be disappointed. I've learned to never build up my expectations the hard way.

@BTodd945 For someone who claims it doesn't have their interest, that was a good length paragraph.

I refuse to give Abrams any of my interest in this film. Like Cloverfield, he is keeping it completely secretive. I built so much hype on Cloverfield and it turned out to be fairly disappointing. I honestly believe this will another one of those shaky camera films with a big f*cking monster terrorizing a people. Except this time he decided to take it back in time, add Speilberg's name, and make the setting a smaller town. Essentially this is Cloverfield 2, except its not being called that, and its secrecy is even more well kept than many thought. As you know secrecy isn't the key to attracting an audience. The best way to do it is giving them the overall story, letting them know whats basically going to happen, and f*cking make them experience awe.
