Mysteries of Super 8 become reality in Vietnam
One of the highlights of the recent Super 8 TV spot we recently launched is a scene where the local police reveal that all of the neighborhood dogs have run afoul, due possibly to some sort of malevolent force that has arrived in this sleepy little Amblin town. Now, real reports are coming out of the Binh Dong Commune of Binh Son District in Vietnam that read much like the plot of Super 8 itself.
Residents in the area have been sent into a panic, with these mysterious incidents having been reported as early as May 7th of this year. Large, mysterious footprints measuring 12 to 15 cm in diameter have been left around the sanded area of the city, and there have been reports of load, unworldly roars late at night.
To authenticate the matter, verified police chief of the Binh Dong Commune Cao Tan Son has confirmed that over 20 dogs have gone missing, or have turned up dead in the surrounding area, a spot of land that leads into the Dinh Mountain region. Like the monster (or space alien; or whatever) in Super 8, no one has gotten a good look at this Quang Ngai mystery beast just yet.
70-year-old Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc says that she found her dog decapitated and disemboweled on the night of May 7th, and four other dead dogs were discovered in the area near her house. The loud mutant screams of this apparent monster were heard throughout the area on the night of this particular incident.
The border districts of Si Ma Cai and Muong Khuong in the northwestern province of Lao Cai have reported a dog-like creature with slanted red eyes that may be tied to these other reports. There is even evidence that these slender, hungry hodags have attacked humans. Still, there is no photographical proof that what they are dealing with is, indeed, a true monster.
Is the Mystery beast of the Quang Ngai province real? Is it somehow tied into the mystery suurounding this summer's sci-fi thriller Super 8? Has J.J. Abrams tale come to life? Hopefully we will know more in the near future.
Super 8 was released June 10th, 2011 and stars Joel Courtney, Jessica Tuck, Joel McKinnon Miller, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, Riley Griffiths, Gabriel Basso, Kyle Chandler. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

@dan1 I love psychological movies (i.e. The Shining), so, needless to say, I loved it. It's not the best movie ever made, but it served its purpose as far as I'm concerned. Plus it's based on actual events, so that makes it even more terrifying. What about you?

I always thought Abrams was good at marketing, but he may be taking it a little too far... He must be a cat lover. :P

Sounds like the Mothman. In all seriousness, however, this kind of sh*t happens all the time. I don't doubt the validity of the report, but you can turn on any investigative t.v. show where unexplained phenomena occur just like this all the time.
