Late last month, news surfaced that Thomas Jane was in the process of being fired from Headshot because Joel Silver wanted to pair star Sylvester Stallone with an African-American actor to replicate the mixed-race buddy scenario he found success with in such past films as Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout.

There has been no official word on Thomas Jane being let go from his contract, but yesterday Fast Five and Ninja Assassin star Sung Kang joined the project, and many speculate that he will be taking on the role previously held by Jane. The title of this Walter Hill directed action flick was also dropped and remains untitled for the time being.

Based on the graphic novel Bullet to the Head, Sylvester Stallone stars as a New Orleans based hitman who teams up with a New York City street cop to take down a common enemy. Thomas Jane had officially signed on to play the NYC police officer, though last we heard, he was negotiating over his contract, hoping to keep his job. The news of Sung Kang coming aboard the project has omitted any mention of Thomas Jane, and only reveals that Sung Kang will be playing a major supporting role.

Joel Silver is producing the Untitled Sylvester Stallone/Walter Hill Project for Dark Castle and Warner Bros. Pictures. Shooting is set to begin in Louisiana later this month.

Bullet to the Head was released February 1st, 2013 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang, Sarah Shahi, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jason Momoa, Christian Slater, Jon Seda, Holt McCallany. The film is directed by Walter Hill.

Hill usually does well with these films but he needs to make Silver keep Jane on board imo. The addition of Kang is solid news as a supporting actor but not as a replacement for Jane. As for the title, why not simply use "Bullet to the Head"?

Sung Kang doesn't sound like an African American name, nor does he look like one. Looks pretty Asian to me. Didn't they kind of miss the mark there with their point of supposedly "firing" Jane? Meh, I'm turned off by the whole project now anyways.

He might just have another huge supporting role, even if Thomas Jane does replaced(which I hope he doesn't), it was said that Joel Silver wanted an African American actor to do so.
