Summit Entertainment Lands Emma Watson's The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Summit Entertainment has picked up feature film rights to The Perks of Being a Wallflower, starring Emma Watson and Logan Lerman.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower will be directed by Stephen Chbosky, who also wrote the script, based on his 1999 tome.

The film is a coming of age story about 15-year-old Charlie (Logan Lerman), an endearing and naïve outsider, coping with first love (Emma Watson), the suicide of his best friend and his own mental illness while struggling to find a group of people with whom he belongs.

Filming is scheduled to start this summer.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower comes to theaters September 14th, 2012 and stars Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Nina Dobrev, Logan Lerman, Mae Whitman, Johnny Simmons, Kate Walsh, Reece Thompson. The film is directed by Stephen Chbosky.

    Awesome! I'm not happy about Summit. VERY happy about Emma and Logan. I can't wait to see who they cast in the other roles. The author of the book is the one writing the screenplay and directing the film, so I think if anyone knows which actors will best portray those characters it's him. :D

    Summit has really been dishing out crappy films. Red was okay, but seriously, they're catering to teens and simple minded people, doing whatever's in at the time. F*ck those *ssholes.

    @Ezio - the first three cost 150 million to make. The first three earned over 1.5 billion! Summit isn't "popular," per say. They just have the money to make more crap :P
