It's not at all too soon. It's actually too soon to give Eragon another go. Fact of the matter is, it's been done. Twilight has not, and it has just as rabid a fan base as, if not moreso than, Eragon. Twilight is going to be massive and will probably bring in more than expected just because people will want to see what all the fuss is about even if they haven't read the book. As long as Meyer stays on in a consulting role, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn will follow in it's footsteps, though I expect Eclipse to have more of an impact out of the sequels. Breaking Dawn might actually be questionable in terms of income unless Meyer writes a follow-up book between now and then. Many people aren't satisfied with the way it ends. Give them a reason to want more beyond Breaking Dawn, and that film will do just as well.

Isn't this too soon. The first isn't out yet.
I say give Eragon another chance and with the right director.
