Summit Developing Dracula Remake, Vlad!
Brad Pitt will produce this project.
The script is written by actor Charlie Hunnam. Summit is currently talking with music video director and photographer Anthony Mandler to helm the project.
Vlad follows Dracula as a young prince. The person behind the Dracula myth is known as Vlad the Impaler.
Summit bought Vlad awhile ago, and was putting it together quietly. The studio got very excited when they saw Mandler's reel.

this could actually be good

True, but not the popular image of Dracula. Though, as I said, it's an easy bridge to cross to make the historical Vlad into the mythic Dracula.

The guy inspired Dracula and was known as Dracula. That's why they're associating it with Dracula.

This film could go so many ways. They could explore his plunge into darkness from a young age and from a character standpoint that fall could culminate in his rejection of his humanity by becoming an immortal, soulless vampire.
I doubt they would be associating it with Dracula if they weren't going to add fantasy elements to it.

The Impaler sounds like 80's slasher flick.

How dare you compare Vlad Tepes to Hitler.lol just kidding.
Newkill.Once again we agree. But for history nerds like me.I would expect a story about Vlad Tepes. So maybe insert user name here, has a point. No expectations no disappointments. The Impaler might work.

I agree. As a historical film I think this could be really interesting, like a character study about Hitler.

I think it's better that they call it Vlad. It's good marketing. People would go in thinking a vampire movie but instead get something totally different.

I do agree there.I guess it's just MovieWeb thinking it's a remake.Guess they dont know history.

Yeah, calling it a new Dracula movie will be misleading. People will be expecting vampires and sh*t lol
It should be called "The Impaler," not "Vlad."

I dont know about the fantasy elements, they better not. They should show Vlad for the monster he truly was,not the vampire he inspired.

Yeah, unless they're adding fantasy elements to it, this film will have no vampires whatsoever.

Great!
Todd89.This has nothing to do with Chris Lee's Dracula. This is a telling of Vlad the Impaler,Vlad Tepes,Vlad Dracul or whatever his moniker was.He was a brutal tyrant and his brutal ways would rival those of Elizabeth Bathory or Gilles De Rais.I dont think Van Helsing would have anything to do with this.
And I'm totally stoked for this film.It should be good. And as for Pitt doing this.He better have done his homework.

cool. Hopefully, since Pitt is producing it'll have like a Interview with the vampire feel to it.

What about Chris Lee, dracula film series it had Van Helsing in them.

If they're going for a historical film, I wouldn't even call this a "Dracula film". It's misleading.

actually come to think of it i dont think this would be considered a monster remake, since i don think they are going to make him a vampire in this
