Stuntman Dies on Red Cliff Set

A tragedy has occurred on John Woo's new movie. According to Yahoo!, a stuntman working on Woo's new film, Red Cliff was killed on the set when a fire blazed out of control.

Six others were injured in the accident. In the sequence, a smaller boat was to collide with a larger boat, setting both ships ablaze. The sequence went off as planned until the fire got out of control and consumed both boats. The deceased was an unidentified, 23-year-old stuntman.

Woo himself was in Hong Kong, promoting the movie and he rushed back to the Beijing set, upon hearing the news.

A statement released said that the crew, "is deeply distraught and full of regret. They are making every effort to make arrangements for the deceased, his family and the injured crew members."

Release plans for the film still remain unclear.

Red Cliff was released November 18th, 2009 and stars Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Fengyi Zhang, Chen Chang, Wei Zhao, Jun Hu, Shido Nakamura, Chiling Lin. The film is directed by John Woo.
