Stuart Beattie Is Writing G.I. Joe

Stuart Beattie has landed the gig of a lifetime. According to Variety, Paramount Pictures has hired the Collateral scribe to write the big screen adaptation of G.I. Joe.

Based on the Hasbro action figure, which had its own cartoon series in the mid-80s, G.I. Joe will revolve around the Brussels-based organization Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity. This co-ed force of operatives must battle the evil Cobra organization, which is lead by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer.

Pre-production is set to start this fall, with the film going before the camera in February for a summer 2009 debut.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was released August 7th, 2009 and stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Byung-hun Lee, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce. The film is directed by Stephen Sommers.

    now i have to disagree with you on snake eyes. he is a ninja, he was trained as spec ops in the military yes but he was also adopted into a ninja clan, hes at home with a sword just as much as he is with an mp5. he just favors using guns because he feals he disgraced the clan. besides if they do snake eyes then they should do Storm shado too. which would really kick ass

    I hope when they make the G.I. Joe movie, they are going to do it right. Becasue most of the characters are Special Ops trained and only some that are regular military trained. The charcater that ARE NOT Special Ops trained and should be in the movie are Duke, Scarlet, Lady Jay, General Hawk and Dusty. The charcaters that are Special Ops trained that should be in the movie are, Falcone Army Special Forces(AKA The Green Berets)trained, is either Duke's big or little brother. Snake Eye SHOULD NOT be consider or seen as a ninja, but as the BEST Of BEST in Special Ops, who is both Army Special Forces and Delta Force trained. Snake Eye's choice of weapons are the SOPMOD M4 and the MP5 SD2 depending on the mission. Also Snake Eye should be a Special Ops soldier who is very good in CQB, the whole ninja idea on Snake Eye would be a VERY STUPID thing, but not as the BEST Of BEST in Special Ops. Beach Head he is Navy Seal trained, Torpedo also Navy Seal trained like Beach Head, Low-Light he is Army Special Forces trainted, who is a Sniper and his choices of weapon is the M24 rifle and the Berrett 82A1 .50-Cal. rifle depending on the mission. Flint he is Army Ranger trained Air-Borne a chopper pilot who is Army Special Forces trainted and was part of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment(AKA Night Stalkers)before joining G.I. Joe. Those are the characters that should be in the movie and that should be their backgrounds. Terms and things that should be talked about in the movie are HALO jump, laser target designator, ALICE pack, Ghillie suit, LST-5C satellie radio, Fort Bragg, Fort Benning, Coronado, Ca, small boat, rope insertion, C4, and claymore mine I think if the movie makers go this route it would be a very good movie and here there of what the heck from movie goers.

JOE the american hero? man sounds like they're already butchering this thing. this sucks. they better now screw with any of the characters. I mean follow the comics and the show. that would be a kickass story esp with the guy who is writing the comics now.
