Maggie Gyllenhaal will star in Still I Rise
The story centers on two frustrated mothers (Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis) who take action to change their troubled local public school. The movie is based on a true story, and will also focus on America's educational crisis as a whole.
Daniel Barnz (Beastly) will direct from a screenplay he rewrote from Brin Hill's original draft. Mark Johnson is producing through his Gran Via Productions banner. 20th Century Fox will distribute Still I Rise domestically.
Production is slated to start on May 23, on location in Pittsburgh.
Won't Back Down comes to theaters September 28th, 2012 and stars Viola Davis, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ving Rhames, Oscar Isaac, Holly Hunter, Rosie Perez, Lance Reddick, Emily Alyn Lind. The film is directed by Daniel Barnz.
