Steven Spielberg's Terra Nova Will Shoot in Queensland
"Fox Broadcasting has today confirmed Queensland as the location of choice for 'Terra Nova ... and once again shows Queensland's ability to attract first rate productions to the state," Bligh said.
"My government provided considerable incentives through Screen Queensland to secure this production which, in turn, will generate in excess of AUS$54 million ($50 million) in economic activity and create thousands of jobs," she went on to say.
According to Bligh, 80% of the cast and crew will be Queenslanders. Production is going to take place on locations around southeastern Queensland and at Warner Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast.
"Queensland had the right look, climate and terrain, a vibrant production community and attractive economic incentives. We are very excited to be shooting our first production there." Stated executive vice president of production, Jim Sharp.
Terra Nova stars Jason O'Mara (U.S. version of Life on Mars). The show follows a group of scientists from 2149 who go back 85 million years to prehistoric Earth to save the planet that is dying from severe development and overcrowding.
Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin are executive producing. Alex Graves and Jon Cassar will direct both the pilot and the series.

Dunno about other people, but I'm excited about this. I love high concept sci fi shows.
