@slysnide exactly wht I was trying to say except that u explained it perfectly. People think that it should just be left alone but if they sit down and plan this very well we can get a descent movie because there are many things to work from. If Speilberg wants to do this he should take his time.

This could work. They have plenty of other angles to work from, such as the unadapted Dodgson storyline from "The Lost World," and expand on what Grant mentioned in #3 about what else In-Gen was up to considering that Spinosaurus & Pteranadon weren't on their lists. The 3rd outing was way too short and had no real story. That's what made the first one so good, as it wasn't just people running about getting eaten by dinosaurs. Rather it combined the science & technology of it into a suspenseful story which even featured a subplot. All the characters were unique and not just set up to die, nor did you anticipate them dying. "The Lost World" leeched off the adventure element more, but let the 'rockstar' Malcom lead the way, which was preferable. The 3rd however was a straight out adventure that could easily have featured a subplot and more story to it. And considering that Sam Neil's career isn't really going anywhere, same with Laura Dern's and that Goldblum expressed interest in returning as late as 2009, then this is entirely possible. Sure, Michael Crichton & Stan Winston are dead. Both were the pioneers of this franchise, but it can continue, ONLY if they have an actual story for it. Not just as an excuse to take advantage of the 3D IMAX format. And considering how many still love the original film which hasn't been tampered with, and thankfully hasn't for its blu-ray release, then the fanbase is still there. As well as a reminder that they need not rush into this if they can't crack a good story besides dinosaurs on the mainland. They tried that in JP2, and people didn't like it. Return to Isla Nublar from the first film for a change. With all the crap In-Gen left behind, then that place probably looks pretty interesting. And keep introducing those new dinosaurs to keep up the interest, as well as updating the existing dinosaurs based on the latest paelentological data out there on them. Then it could work.

Not the worst idea I've heard lately, especially if it's going to be in 3D.

I'd love to see a JP4 with Spielberg back at the helm. Get back Dern, Neil, and Goldblum in a whole new story, and it could be pretty awesome.

@themoviefanatic you realize I'm talking about the dinosaurs, right? Same way Cameron did his viperwolves, titanothairs, and birds and whatnot

How would the Avatar technology be used ?. They would not be able to use people for that, they would use computer generated images "CGI", not motion capture technology, like what they used in Avatar.

@jasonkat come to think of it, your jp4 concept could actually work. they could do that or the one i mentioned. maybe they somehow found out about the stolen DNA samples from the first one and John's grand kids gather a team to go retrieve it.

why would u reboot a classic? does hollywood actually think that doing this does any good to the franchise. what will be their excuse, that they're rebooting it so that new generations can get familiar with it. if they actually paid attention to their own movies they would actually see that their is plenty of ideas from the previous movies to work from. for example, what ever happened to the DNA samples that were in the shaving gel can that Dennis stole from the lab. another one, what happened at the compound from the other island. And lastly, what ate the two guys that were in the boat in the beginning of the third movie. there are many other concepts that they could use although i think that another movie is pointless whether it's a reboot or a part 4. they should just leave it alone.

For me, Jurassic Park ended with the first one. Both sequels had their moments, but both were wholly unnecessary.

I don't get the hate that Lost World gets. To me, JP3 was a lot weaker and cheesier. At least JP2 still had Jeff Goldblum, who to me pretty much made JP1.

"That's one big pile of sh*t".

Agreed with @mosorwvlad jp1 was the greatest dino movie/story ever told, it was fresh, it was new and sumthing we never seen b4, and the film was more focus on the story & characters than we were with the dinos, Believe it or not. it doesnt matter how many jp films they can dig out from under, the dinos will never get killed, or die The films will just end up being about Survival. and staying alive. They will pretty much all end the same way.

If they wanted to make a jp4. they can try making it where yrs have passed by, john hammer passed away and left his "jp-will" or watever u call it, to his grand kid(s) who r now older and maybe they wanted to grab a team together and go bck to jp and rebuilt it just the way it was, "its wat my grandpa would have wanted. but then sumthing goes wrong OH NO. psh, but it would tie in to the 1st film cause we would see all of the good things we saw in the 1st film.
So part4 can go any direction, but how will a reboot go? i mean i dont wanna see the same thing with younger people., movies now adays theres always teens being the main character.

But the thing is I actually helped build one of the skeleton dino's, I better contract them for any job. It'll be funny to actually work on the reboot if it happens.
