Steven Spielberg to Make Matt Helm?
The character was featured in 27 novels by Donald Hamilton. He is a government agent who goes after bad guys. A script was recently delivered to the director from writer Paul Attanasio.
DreamWorks was developing the project but had to leave it at Paramount when the two companies parted ways. Spielberg will be producing the project but it is unclear about whether he will direct.
As DreamWorks closes its new deal with Disney they really want Matt Helm to be his next project. However, Paramount isn't beholden to Spielberg and in this financial climate they may not want to give the director his "rich deal terms."
The feeling is that the property could launch a franchise and Paramount could make and save money by going with another director.

You bet it f*cking sucks, i want JEH or Jeremy Irons as Smaug...Maybe Andy Serkis can do it.
Apparently people have been casted, but it all depends on weather the project is greenlit and when

There is also an article in there about Zack Synder wanting Christian Bale to play in The Dark Knight Returns as Batman,
but the best article on there at the moment was that Michael Jackson at one point wanted to make a Spider man movie.
Also i agree with you Movie-Mage, i was actually looking very forward to seeing Liam Nesson as Lincoln, i think he is perfect for it, just give him the beard and the top hat and he is well Lincoln best impersonater.
I would like to see a 2 part story on it though with the first focusing on Lincoln and then the second focusing on John Wilkes Booth and the 12 day manhunt it took to catch him, could make a very interesting double picture, definately oscar worthy though

Paramount knows what they're doing. They are now the top seller in Hollywood, and I don't blame them for being careful with their investments.
But a Matt Helm movie by Steveie would be SMOKE'EN! :P

I agree with you Fallen, are you hearing this new news that their may not be a Hobbit film, apparently the SCRIPT isn't even done yet...
We have to wait 3 damn weeks to find out if there will actually be a Hobbit movie, which is when the SCRIPT id deadlined to be in by the studio and hopefully it gets the green light otherwise its back to the drawing board for Del Toro and Jackson.

The Narrator: The Better Man
Uhm, I personally don't want him to direct. I DO want to see him direct The Chicago 7 and continue to focus on Tintin with Peter Jackson, and I remember he had one other project. Too many projects man.
