Steven Spielberg Joins Stephen King Under the Dome
The series will be based off of King's latest blockbuster book, which centers on a small resort town in Maine that is turned upside down when a mysterious forcefield surrounds the town, which divides the locals of this once-sleepy town.
DreamWorks TV is producing the project, which is currently going out to writers. It wasn't clear when a pilot would be ready for the series.

I can't wait to see if this turns out. I just finished the book this weekend and I'd love to see a good adaptation to screen.

I swear to God this book keeps sounding like a comic i read back in '05 called "Girls" by the Luna Bros. For 24 issues this little town is trapped under a dome... albeit with freakishly multiplying-murderous hotties. I've no idea if King's book has said hotties at the moment.
Steve would be the last person I'd ever think of as a plagiarist, but this topic is a tad more specific than "tidal-wave/zombies/asteroid strikes wherever."
Anybody have better incite into this?

I received my copy via mail (pre-ordered for only nine bucks on Amazon!) yesterday, and have yet to pursue its 1,080 pages. Christmas break, I think. It is reassuring to hear that a high-class director is brining the what-appears-to-be epic novel to the screen.
I suppose it's a tactical move to produce the story for television versus cinema as it would be difficult to condense the 1,000 pager to fit standard (or even Jackson) feature-length.
Hopefully, it pans out well (with tv-series, you can never be certain). I have enjoyed Spielberg's previous televised productions (Band of Brothers, Into the West), but I am not exactly big on mini-series, in general. If it can't be watched in one sitting with a medium popcorn and soda, toss it out the window. Maybe, for ths, I'll pack double... ;P
