Steven Conrad to Write The Karate Kid

The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Biz Blog is reporting that Columbia Pictures's remake of The Karate Kid is getting some chops from The Pursuit of Happyness screenwriter Steven Conrad.

Directed by Harald Zwart and starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, the remake will hit theaters June 11, 2010, and also stars Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson who will play the mother.

Conrad takes over the script reboot, which originally was handed to Chris Murphy.

Production begins next month.

The Karate Kid was released June 11th, 2010 and stars Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan, Taraji P. Henson, Wenwen Han, Rongguang Yu, Zhensu Wu, Zhiheng Wang, Zhenwei Wang. The film is directed by Harald Zwart.

    While I think it's a bad idea and extremely redundant, I bet it will be an entertaining film.

    I won't start a rally over the movie, but I probably won't buy a ticket, either.

    Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, hhhmmmm, one a great action star and the other kinda new to the scene, im just saying if they dont pull this off right, dont even try, the origionals and even The Next Karate Kid with Hilary Swank was great, So my opinion is simple, if you cant beat the origional the classic dont even bother stepping up to the plate, cause all your gonna get is alot of pissed off fans of the origional and low numbers at the stores for DVD sales
