Steve Pink (Grosse Pointe Blank, High Fidelity, Accepted) has been hired write a draft of the Kevin James starrer Mall Cop for Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison Prods, according to Variety. James co-wrote the original script.

The story centers on a mild-mannered security guard thrust into action when his mall is taken over by highly organized thieves.

The studio is looking to begin filming this spring and is currently looking for a director.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop was released January 16th, 2009 and stars Kevin James, Keir O'Donnell, Jayma Mays, Raini Rodriguez, Shirley Knight, Stephen Rannazzisi, Peter Gerety, Bobby Cannavale. The film is directed by Steve Carr.
