Steve Oedekerk to Write Stretch Armstrong

In a story from Variety, Universal Pictures has tapped Steve Oedekerk to write Stretch Armstrong.

The film will be a superhero comedy that is based on the toy from Hasbro. At 13 inches tall, this was a "figure whose limbs could be stretched to nearly four feet." Stretch had a dog named Fetch, and evil brother named Evil X-Ray Wretch Armstrong.

"This is a new well from which to draw intellectual properties that bring a pre-awareness and nostalgia," stated producer Bennett Schneir. "They are drawing filmmakers who find a real emotional connection and resonance, and this is proving to be a compelling driver for motion pictures."
