Steve Oedekerk has been hired to re-write the script for Ripley's Believe It or Not! for Paramount Pictures.

Jim Carrey is still set to star as Ripley and Tim Burton is still on board as director. Variety says Carrey hatched many of the creative ideas that will broaden the emphasis from his Robert Ripley character to some of the wonders he uncovered for his Believe It or Not! column. Oedekerk will work to ramp up the spectacle factor for a budget comparable to the original.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! is scheduled for a winter 2008 start of production in China and a 2009 release date.
