Steve Carr to Direct Short Circuit

Steve Carr has signed on to direct the remake of the 1986 sci-fi pic Short Circuit for Dimension Films.

According to Variety, the reboot is scripted by Dan Milano (Robot Chicken), and brings the iconic Johnny 5 into the 21st century. Built by the military to be a highly sophisticated weapon, Johnny 5 develops a conscience and personality after being hit by lightning. He befriends a lonely boy and his fractured family.

No production date has been announced.

Short Circuit comes to theaters in 2013. The film is directed by Tim Hill.

    lol glad you could see the sarcastic side of that joke vanboy lol.I really did not mean anything by it.And I will be honest.I really have nothing against remakes or 3D.I just firmly believe that some classics should be left alone and not all movies should be in 3D.Sure I will admit that if Star Wars were put in 3D.I'd would more than likly see it.

    Well, they better get this right. And I think we can do without the cutsey stuff this time around, like when he was hopping like that grasshopper. Hopefully, he's still a real robotic creation, and not CGI. But if he is CGI, he better look real and not have all of these extra uneeded parts, that are just added for flashiness.
