Steve Carr will direct the new Kevin James comedy Mall Cop. According to Variety, High Fidelity's Steve Pink wrote the most recent draft of the screenplay.

The story follows a quite security guard that is thrust into action when a group of thieves rob his mall. Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions is producing the film alongside James, Jeff Sussman, and Todd Garner.

The film will begin shooting early next year.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop was released January 16th, 2009 and stars Kevin James, Keir O'Donnell, Jayma Mays, Raini Rodriguez, Shirley Knight, Stephen Rannazzisi, Peter Gerety, Bobby Cannavale. The film is directed by Steve Carr.
