Stephen Sommers directing Odd Thomas adaptation
We first reported on the project back in September, although it wasn't certain if Sommers would direct this project or the Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel, since neither property had a clear-cut production start date set. Here's what Stephen Sommers had to say about the project at the American Film Market:
"As soon as I read the book I felt compelled to turn it into a movie. It's a fantastic love affair between these two wonderful characters. The story combines action with heart, laughs and scares. It felt right to be doing this independently and I'm excited to take this to the market."
Stephen Sommers is directing the movie from a script he adapted from the Dean R. Koontz novel series. The first book hit the shelves in 2003, and centers on a man who can see the dead. Although he cannot communicate with them, he tries to solve their problems. The first Odd Thomas book spawned a series which includes Forever Odd, Brother Odd, Odd Hours and two graphic novels.
Fusion Films' Howard Kaplan and John Baldecchi will produce the movie with Stephen Sommers, which will have a $47 million budget. No production schedule was given for Odd Thomas.

Supes, I agree. Del Toro or Cuaron would be my first choices. Though admittedly I've never seen Sommers' movies.
Daveactor7, I actually really enjoyed Hereafter. I don't understand what you mean.

@TheREALsupes ... never though of that, but Del Toro would be awesome. Nice point! And after reading this series... hellz no! This a$$ clown should not be touching this. @Daveactor7 ... it's really not like "Hereafter" at all.
