Stephen Frears to Direct Tamara Drewe
Gemma Arterton has signed on to play Drewe, a sexy flirt that returns to her small hometown village only to stir up dark passion amongst the locals. Also starring in the film are Dominic Cooper, Roger Allam, Luke Evans, Bill Camp and Tamsin Greig. Simmonds' work is based on the Thomas Hardy classic novel Far from the Madding Crowd, which was adapted into a film in 1967.
The film is set to start shooting later this year.
Tamara Drewe was released October 8th, 2010 and stars Gemma Arterton, Dominic Cooper, Luke Evans, Tamsin Greig, Roger Allam, Bill Camp, Zahra Ahmadi, Jessica Barden. The film is directed by Stephen Frears.
