A few years ago, Fast Five revitalized the franchise by bringing in stars from the first four movies in one big adventure. If all goes according to plan, Summit Entertainment will take a page out of that same playbook with Step Up 5. The studio is moving forward on the sequel, with plans to bring the stars of the first four movies back, all under the same cinematic roof, including Channing Tatum.
Step Up 5 may unite Channing Tatum with the rest of the franchise's stars
Step Up: Revolution director Scott Speer will direct from a screenplay by John Swetnam. The story will culminate with an epic dance-off that will, if all goes to plan, feature cameos by the stars of each movie in the franchise.
Although no deals have been signed yet, it is possible Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum will return. Both of their careers were launched with the first Step Up in 2006, with Channing Tatum also making a cameo appearance in Step Up 2 the Streets. If they can get everyone back, expect to see Briana Evigan (Step Up 2 the Streets), Sharni Vinson (Step Up 3D), and Ryan Guzman (Step Up: Revolution), just to name a few.
Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman will produce. No shooting schedule has been given at this time.
