State of Play Twists and Turns to the Top of the DVD Charts

State of Play It was a relatively slow week on the DVD shelves, but a Russell Crowe film came out on top this past week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, State of Play took the top spot on the DVD sales charts.

The Russell Crowe political thriller also took the rental crown, for the week ending September 6, a rather slow week for home video. Heroes: Season 3 had a strong showing in its debut week, taking second place in DVD sales, selling a healthy 72% as many copies as State of Play.

On the rental side, State of Play bumped last week's top rental, Duplicity, into second place, with Last House on the Left holding steady in third place.

In high definition, Russell Crowe dominated again, but with one of his older films. Gladiator took the top spot on the Blu-ray charts, released in a brand new Sapphire Edition BD and another Sapphire release, Braveheart took second place in BD sales. The titles were the first to be released in the Sapphire Edition line.
