Sci-fi fans can expect some familiar faces when a new Sci Fi Channel TV series is launched. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stargate SG-1 cast members Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks and Gary Jones have lined up guest-starring roles in Stargate Universe.

They will all be reprising their roles from the previous series, with Anderson portraying General O'Neil, Tapping as Samantha Carter, Shanks playing Daniel Jackson and Jones returning as Chief Master Sergeant William Harriman.

Stargate Universe will star Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Phillips and Ming-Na and revolves around a group of survivors aboard an old ship who are unable to return to Earth. Christopher McDonald has also been set to portray Senator Allan Armstrong, who oversees the Stargate program and whose daughter Chloe Armstrong (Elyse Levesque) is aboard the stranded ship.

No production schedule was released for the series.

I'm not expecting much for SG:U and having the series originals guest was to be expected. A better torch pass would have been Rachel Lutrell and Sora catching a ride back to the Pegasus galaxy with Jaime Ray Newman (Lt. Cadman) leading the security detail.

SG:U would be more interesting if it was the story of the Ancients rather than a BSG story clone.

It took Christopher Judge four seasons to guest star on "Atlantis", but hopefully it won't take that long for this new series.
