Star Wars live-action TV series put on hold
"The live action TV show is kind of on hold because we have scripts, but we don't know how to do them."
"They literally are Star Wars, only we're going to have to try to do them at a tenth the cost. And it's a huge challenge, a lot bigger than what we thought it was gonna be."
"They literally are Star Wars, only we're going to have to try to do them at a tenth the cost. And it's a huge challenge, a lot bigger than what we thought it was gonna be."
The site reports that Lucas gave those quotes at a recent screening of Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. The series was said to take place between the films Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. However, we also reported back in April that a new animated TV series was moving forward, which will also be set in the time period between those two films.
We'll be sure to keep you posted with any news regarding any Star Wars TV series as soon as more information comes in.

@Slysnide I agree with that, and will add that if a live action tv series had been made and shown, like Battlestar Galactica, they could have covered that much ground more extensively, and taken their time with it. But that's just a wish and dream of mine. Instead we got what we got.

People need to check their unrealistic expectations at the door. The reason the prequels were so different was because it didn't allow a few characters to dictate the events of the film as the originals did. They were very political, not very '30s Matinee Serial based, and had to cover too much, like how a democracy becomes an empire, how anakin goes from good to evil, the glory days of the jedi, and how they came to be exterminated, the galactic civil war (clone war) and its origins. Way too much crap overall that was needed to to get to E4, but in doing so, they had to sacrafice the adventurous feeling of the originals, and the scope was too large for the effects back then, making it a CG Trilogy. Though on the flipside, had GL had no desire to return to Star Wars, then he wouldn't have bothered with the digital cinema revolution, and you'd have no CG films. So adios Spiderman, Batman, X-Men, Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean etc, etc.

"Looks like Jar Jar is gonna have to be stop motion."
Who said Jar Jar was gonna be in it? He wasn't in Episode III. And he was barely in Episode II.
"Didn't that already occur with Episodes I-III?"
I didn't think Episodes II and III were all that bad. I like them more than Episode IV, which I mostly didn't like because Luke kept on complaining throughout the whole movie and it got annoying after a while. Fortunately, he grew up (not just physically) in Episodes V and VI.

With all the great films and shows coming out in the next two years, I can be patient enough to wait on Lucas and company to get this done properly!

Translation: You mean I cant bedazzle people from noticing the horribly written script with an abundance of poor CGI? Looks like Jar Jar is gonna have to be stop motion.
