Star Wars live action TV series gets working title Star Wars: Underworld
"They're timeless. They take place between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, that 20 year period when Luke is growing up. It's not about Luke, but it's about that period when the Empire is trying to take things [over]. It's called Underworld. Well, it's a working title, but, basically, it's underneath what's going on It's the criminals and the gangs. The guys who are running Wall Street, basically. The guys who are running the United States."
The producer also said he wasn't worried about the scripts being outdated, by the time they finally get around to shooting Star Wars: Underworld.
"They will only get better, the scripts. It's really a budget thing, how do we get this down? The prequels only cost $100 million each, and in Hollywood, that's nothing. This is really tough, because we're trying to do, in one hour, the same kinds of effects a two-hour film has to do, and we have to do it every week. That's tough, but we'll get there."
You can take a look at Rick McCallum's full video interview below for Star Wars: Underworld.

@ghostman: You're probably right. They touched upon the Trandoshan Slavers at the end of the last season, but I'd rather see them in action on Kashyyyk where it's beautiful, and they have a long history with the wookies. There are so many possibilities they haven't touched. Season 3 was pretty much a waste as it just extended old ideas, and season 4 has thus far included two trilogies, a quadrilogy, a twofer, and a stand alone. In other words, 5 different ideas (though not original) out of 13 slots. I actually liked the R2D2/C3PO twofer cause it was nice that they got some much needed buddy time. So many possibilities there. But it needed to be more threatening. The first half of that was dismal. And while I did like the idea of the renegade general, it dragged on too long. The Mon Cal trilogy was alright since it was both visually interesting and their extensive EU existence had never been featured in any of the films or shows up to that point. They should bring back Bane. He was badass. Angel Eyes belongs in the star wars universe, and technically they've not had a sequel in over 2yrs. They started with the hostage episode at the end of season one, continued with a nice trilogy to kickoff season 2, and then didn't return to him at all with the exception of a prequel and sequel to a prequel in season 3--November 2010. He needs to be brought back. Last time we saw him he escaped that trap he set on that outpost in the asteroid field. Too badass overall to just be tossed aside.

Ghostman
@slysnide Exactly! I'm getting tired of these useless story-plots and recycled ideas. Why can't they advance forward to the point where Episode III begins?! It would be so much better! I'll give it two more seasons and it'll be over.

@ghostman@James-V-Strain: Exactly. The problem with "Clone Wars" however is that they spend multiple episodes to complete a story which can be good or bad. Just last month they had 4 episodes dedicated to the renegade general, and the first two really had nothing to them. Or this latest slave planet trilogy. Always the same recycled plot with Dooku swindling someone into helping him, and the planets are always these boring desert landscapes. I wish we could see something like Feluccia or Kashyyyk for a change, as well as a storyline which isn't necessarily clone wars related.

You know, I've lost interest in this live-action TV series...at least the Clone Wars in a decently good show to watch.

By now why even bother? Cartoon Networks "Clone Wars" could pick up any story you wanted to tell for a fraction of cost and could be done now.

This is too little information to go on either way. Nothing or everything could come from this, and until they start filming, or at the very least casting, I don't have an opinion either way on this. They've f*cked with us about this for too long.

Title sucks, so does the news we have to wait 3 more years. At least they are doing it, but I'd be more interested in that post-Return of the Jedi animated series by Seth Green and Co.

Really? This is where we're going in reality? Where's our Death Star? Good lord, McCallum, can you wear your OWS badge where everyone can see? Wall Street and the US is the Empire...I wonder McCallum, does that make Obama Palpatine? And considering that globally anyone that makes $34,000 is in the top 1%, where exactly does your salary place you? I'm guessing, since your a Hollywood producer, that you go well beyond the global threshold.

There's so much story in the Star Wars universe, they could literally go on forever. I don't mind this.

That is not as bad as they say... Cut the amount of space shots, some large city shots, and you have what has been done in alot of futuristic shows. Look at Battle Star, Star Trek, and what they do on Terra Nova. It can be done... Spend alot early for intro like Terra Nova, and then go old school like Star Trek for space ship shots. Terra Nova uses most of the same shots for far aways as needed to save money also. So if you spend big early, you can recycle some basic shots like ship travel, and city shots.. That cuts the need for so much budget each week.
