"We have agreed to write another one," Orci said. "We're going to start thinking about it any second now. But we're still just having a mental sorbet before we jump back in. And, you know, just seeing all the reactions to the movie. We want to make sure we take it all in and really figure out what worked and what didn't and proceed from there. But now that we have ... an open canvas, ... anything can happen."
Star Trek was released May 8th, 2009 and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana, Bruce Greenwood, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

I knew this was going to happen and already can't wait. I hope Karl Urban gets more screen time because he definitely deserves it.

I wonder whose reactions they're paying attention to? Hopefully not just the same old critics or those left fielded news/radio station 'reviewers.'

This is fantastic news!!! Star Trek is the best movie I have seen since Royale in 2006! Every single detail in the movie was beautifully thought out and acted. These writers I gladly welcome back to the fold. In response to their comments above, everything worked in the movie perfectly except *warning potential spoiler* Spock and Uhura cut that out and we'll be in business. That was the only part of this movie that threw me. Otherwise,
