Bruce Greenwood's Admiral Pike is written into Star Trek 2
Screenwriter-producer Roberto Orci has confirmed that Bruce Greenwood's Pike has been written into the sequel, though the actor hasn't officially come on board at this time.
Here's what Roberto Orci had to say below.
"We wrote a part for Greenwood. Let us hope he says 'Yes!'"
Bruce Greenwood, unlike most of the major cast members, did not have an option in his contract to return for the sequel. However, Pike was promoted to Admiral at the end of Star Trek, so he may have a major role to play in Star Trek 2.
J.J. Abrams is directing Star Trek 2 from a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof.
Star Trek Into Darkness was released May 17th, 2013 and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

Yeah, I just skimmed through it again. I loved Drive, and Albert Brooks was damn amazing and deserves all the recognition in the world, but I don't see how Greenwood didn't sweep everything, let alone not get nominated for anything. It might be the best performance of the year, male or female, supporting or otherwise.

His performance in Meek's Cutoff is the best supporting performance by any actor this year. Very discouraged to see he hasn't been nominated for anything.
