Star Trek 2 Photos Reveal Simon Pegg and Anton Yelchin in New Starfleet Uniforms

Though Star Trek 2 wrapped production earlier this month, a new batch of set photos has come forward, offering a look at the new Starfleet uniforms worn by some of the cast. The photos come courtesy of young actress Anjini Taneja Azhar, who plays the daughter of Noel Clarke and Nazneen Contractor in this sci-fi sequel. Take a look at the actress posing with Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, and her on-screen parents, along with a new shot featuring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.

Star Trek Into Darkness was released May 17th, 2013 and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

    It's funny how often the Star Trek franchise finds its necessary to give Star Fleet new uniforms: the ultramodern jumpsuits in the first movie, the militaristic single-breasted suits in its sequels, the deliberately undersized spandex in TNG, gradually replaced by two-piece tunics that initially followed the same color scheme, but then suddenly turned all gray for that uber-serious "First Contact"...

    But what's really funny is that there's never any in-world explanation for why Star Fleet keeps doing major uniform makeovers. This from a continuity that feels compelled to explain trivial issues like Klingon headbumps...
