Benedict Cumberbatch joins the Star Trek sequel
It isn't known what character Cumberbatch will portray, although it is certain he will have a lead role in the film as a villain.
Benedict Cumberbatch joins Noel Clarke, Alice Eve and Peter Weller as cast members who weren't a part of 2009's Star Trek. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, and John Cho are expected to reprise their roles from the 2009 blockbuster.
J.J. Abrams is directing Star Trek 2 from a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof.
Production is scheduled to begin on January 15.
Star Trek 2 comes to theaters May 17th, 2013 and stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

Very, VERY interesting. I thought he did a pretty good job in War Horse.....even though his role was minor, at best. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with Smaug & The Necromancer in The Hobbit, too!
He'll be great in this, I'm sure. Star Trek 2 is going to be EPIC. You know they are going to try and one-up the hell out of last film, which was also great! Really anxious to see where they take the story!

He already kind of looks like a Vulcan. What if the Vulcans were now the enemy? Even though they're an "endangered species," it would make sense because they could seek "logical" retribution.
