Spider-Man Signs Emma Stone for Multiple Sequels

Actress Emma Stone took a break from shooting the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot Tuesday to appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She revealed that her new blonde hairdo may be in place for the next few years, saying that she has signed on for multiple Spider-Man sequels. Click on the video below to watch her interview, which starts off right away with Spider-Man talk. She also discusses training with Andrew Garfield:

About appearing in further Spider-Man sequels, Emma Stone stated:

"There's a few Spider-Men, so I may have to keep (my blonde hair) for a couple of years."

When asked about training for the upcoming Untitled Spider-Man Reboot, she responded by saying:

"The other day, after work, I was supposed to work out with our trainer and Andrew Garfield said 'Would it be ok if I worked out with you guys?' I was like 'No, that would not be ok'. He said 'Why? It'll be a bonding experience'. I said 'Because you can lift a car and I am a weakling beyond belief'. We're on two completely different ends of the spectrum."

The Amazing Spider-Man comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Irrfan Khan, C. Thomas Howell. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

I don't like Stone's hair in that clip. F*ck this movie, it's going to be horrible until they fix Stone's hair. Goddamnit.

Agreed. Have you seen the Garfield/Stone/Kissing thread? Where were all those sheep during this thread!? Lol. We missed out on what could have been an overly entertaining and slightly irritating argument. Alas, I guess it should be our point to avoid confrontation on smaller matters such as this so I mark the lack of responses (save for CBf's... where is he?) as a small success.

@Narrator, thanks. I'm surprised this thread didn't get more posts, though. I left a lot on the table that people could have debated over.

@ejk, I agree completely with your first comment.
@Smallville... yea, it's gonna make a sh*t load of money, whether its good or not (which I am leaning towards ti being good).

Well, since my opinion is one of the two sought after here it is:

When she was first cast, I laughed at everyone who posted that Gwen was going to die in this film. Why? Because going the Gwen route, and killing her in the first movie, trilogy or not(I'll get to my thoughts on the length of the series in a minute--bear with me, please), woould have been absolutely ridiculous. In no way could such an emotional connection be made to the audience, nor could we really feel Parker's hurt(which was, and still is, fierce) if she died so early in the series. Think about Nolan's Batman series for a second: Rachel did not die in BB, but more than halfway through TDK. We could see and sympathize with Bruce's loss on a greater level than if she had died in BB. But I digress now back to Spider-Man. In order to do the Peter/Gwen/MJ story properly, they need to build a strong foundation, which means a relationship between Gwen and Peter. In short, I saw Emma Stone being signed to multiple films as nothing but a certainty.

Now the real question for what this means is about the length of the series. Anyone that has read my opinion on this series knows that I want a series that would do true justice to this comic book, which means a six or seven movie series. You also might know that I have great reservations about Garfield being able to be Spider-Man all the way through a six or seven series(he'll be close to forty by the time a sixth movie premieres. Although, if they age Parker as the series progresses--high school, college, etc.--they could reach it). So what do I think the length of this film will be? If backed into a corner, I would say four is a good number. Emma said she was signed for multiple movies, but she didn't say was going to be alive in all of them. With that said, my thinking is she might die near the end of the second film, and then in the third movie haunt Peter in his dreams asking him why he didn't save her, before finally telling him he needs to move on(enter MJ). The fourth movie centers around Peter and MJ's relationship and his responsibilities as Spider-Man. A fifth movie is possible, but like I said, Garfield's age, not his acting ability, will be a factor. I'm tired of people defending his ability to me. I know the guy can act and WILL be a great Spider-Man in this first movie, but I'm concerned about movies 4-6 or 7. As he ages, it may prove tough to keep up the believability.

I like the idea of them doing more then 3 movies, so as long they are as @D just said, part of one long, continuous story.

So long as it follows a coherent storyline, I don't mind many sequels, and wouldn't even call them sequels, but parts of one story :P

While I don't condone many multiple sequels, it was fun to watch and listen to Stone. She is just funny :P

  20. Bane5000

So i guess the the Gwen Stacy arc is gonna take up a trilogy and if they go past that theyll bring in MJ, seems interestin, so that way they can take the time to establish the relationship between her and peter so that itll be more emotional when she dies...

@Supes....Emma Stone as both Gwen and MJ, that would be a crazy idea my friend....so crazy it just might work lol

Hmmmm interesting I reckon she should die in 2 following the death of Gwen Stacy arc, but i dunno, should be interesting and more interesting to hear @CBF & @ejk1 opinions :)

  23. Dan

They should do what @CBF and I discussed. Do the death of Gwen Stacy story arc, then recast Stone as MJ lol :P

  24. Dan

Hmmm..... I'd like to know what @CBF and @ejk1 think of this news. I mean, I think it's cool, but what does it mean? That they'll be really stretching out the story past your typical trilogy?
