Martin Sheen will play Uncle Ben in the Spider-Man reboot
Uncle Ben plays a pivotal role in Peter Parker's transformation into Spider-Man in the comic books, and in the original 2002 Spider-Man movie, where he was portrayed by Cliff Robertson.
Marc Webb is directing the movie from a script by James Vanderbilt. The Marvel Comics adaptation is expected to begin principal photography next month, so we'll likely be hearing more casting tidbits regarding the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot in the very near future.
The Amazing Spider-Man comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Irrfan Khan, C. Thomas Howell. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

Perfect casting. Maybe they should cast Charlie as the run down, alcoholic burglar who murders him. It would save on make up.

the casting just keeps getting better and better for this movie. As much as I was against the project, the way they're casting it is almost guaranteeing my ass in the seat.

Sheen's a great choice to play Uncle Ben, but I'm a little annoyed that this seems like an origin tale. We don't need to see how Peter Parker became Spider-Man again.

I just hope Marc Webb will do a good reboot for Spider-man like Christopher Nolan did for Batman...

"Kid Curt Connors" is Connors' son, not a young version of him, which is perfectly acceptable. He does have a son in the comics.

Doesn't this sound like they are going for the Ultimate Spiderman universe here?

Hope it's just a flashback. There will be kid Peter Parker and Kid Curt Connors after all.

@iron-monkey to me, I think they should have dropped the reboot and leave Spider-Man alone, because it is way too early to remake. + I don't think it's going to make much popularity after the $2,496,346,518 the trilogy received.
