Spider-Man 4 Set to Kick Off the Summer 2011 Movie Season
To date, the Spider-Man motion pictures have generated more than $2.5 billion in worldwide box office receipts.
"The last two Spider-Man releases have been available in IMAX theaters, and we're very much looking forward to our return to a wider IMAX theatre network with this exciting new chapter in the continuing adventures of Spider-Man," said Rory Bruer, President, Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing. "The addition of so many new IMAX locations will give even more fans of Spider-Man an opportunity to experience the action and adventure in a unique way."
"Spider-Man continues to be one of the world's most popular motion picture franchises, and we are very excited to include the latest chapter as part of our 2011 slate," said IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond. "Our network has grown significantly and we continue to roll-out new theatres virtually every week, giving more moviegoers the opportunity to experience the movie in IMAX."
"We're so excited to once again work with our friends at Columbia Pictures, Sony and Marvel to bring this beloved superhero back to IMAX theatres," said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "The Spider-Man franchise has been so important to the growth of our network and fan base over the years and we're certainly looking forward to re-teaming with the entire cast and production team to bring this next chapter to moviegoers worldwide."
Spider-Man 4 will reunite director Sam Raimi with stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. The screenplay is currently being adapted by Gary Ross. Producers are Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, Todd Black and Grant Curtis. Executive producers are Stan Lee, Todd Hallowell and Josh Donen.
The IMAX release will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
Spider-man 4 is in development .

Answers to JA Ottley, The Fallen:
JA ~
Yes of course MARVEL still owns Spidey, but they don't own the film rights, which is what I referred to. MARVEL sold them years ago back in the 80s to Cannon Films, which was then bought out in the early 90s by Carolco Pictures where James Cameron wrote his treatment. Then there was this huge lawsuit against Cameron and the rights were in legal limbo for years, which somehow ended up in the hands of MGM who in turn sued MARVEL Comics, claiming fraud in the original deal between Cannon and Marvel. Somehow the rights reverted back to MARVEL but they sold them again to Columbia (owned by Sony at this point) in 1999 for an estimated $7 million, even though MGM legally retracted by saying THEY still owned the rights, and were even about to make a competing film. Its all political and there is more to this story of the Spider-Man film development/rights battles, but bottom line being that MARVEL ended up selling out and NOT owning the rights to the film franchise. Which establishes my point of how Disney buying out MARVEL makes no difference in the process of making Spider-Man 4.
The Fallen~
I don't hate all MARVEL books. I just don't like the idea of a Disney corruption. Remember the Comics Code? I just hope no books get Disney-ized. How would they tell the stories of Punisher? Ghost Rider? Any other violent books? The Spidey insignia avatar just symbolizes my love for the ORIGINAL story of Spidey, from the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko stuff all the way through to the JMS/Romita Jr./Deodato era. Anything after that is garbage material IMO. But it doesn't mean he's not my fav hero anymore. I just don't read his current stories. Curse you, Joe Quesada! And damn your One More Day!

Felicia Hardy is definitely a do-able character. She will do justice to the movie (if they use a good storyline and stick to the plot).

MJ shouldnt be killed. I think a different actress should take on the role though. I think Gwen Stacy should have been introduced sooner and killed off. Spider-Man cant get overcrowded with girls. You got MJ, Gwen, and rumor has it Felicia Hardy might be introduced. Kill off Gwen, have MJ go do modeling in a different country or take off on a sabbatical, introduce Hardy and/or tease Black Cat. Hopefully they wont span out the lizard into the 5th one thats being planned right now because Id like to see villians like Vulture, Electro, Shocker, Carnage, Scorpion, and maybe but not probable Hydro-Man. People want MJ gone Raimi can do the storyline from the cartoon show with MJ and Hydro-Man.

Thats as close an official cast announcement we will get. BTW SOOOO GLAD Disney can't f*ck this movie up because MARVEL sold the rights to this franchise years ago! Not saying that the films are all that, but with nothing to look forward to with the books (well, maybe except Black Cat's return - NOT MJ's), this latest addition is the only Spidey related media I can anticipate anymore. BTW I am no longer buying MARVEL books.
CBF out.

This wont happen but if you want a physical actor I'll do you better than Del Toro. Christian Bale. I know it might seem like a what the f*ck are you thinking choice but I think Bale could pull it off.

Very true but Del Toro can play a brilliant baddie as well.
It would definately have to between Del Toro and Butler though.
I was just trying to come out of the area of being too cliche, because every one says Butler due to his Leonidas role in 300

Kraven the hunter should be played by Gerard Butler. Look at 300. The character should be played with that kind of physicality.

His first appearance is 1980. I consider the 60's and 70's the classic era.

maybe i guess we will just have to wait and see.
I think Kingsley carries on the whole Osbourne story, which is pretty neat. i just reckon goblins are getting annoying, especially with the new goblin idea, i mean what the f*ck where the writers thinking.
Roderick Kingsley is kind of a classic villain he goes on to be hobgoblin

rocco2216
They may have taken Roderick Kingsley out. Plus I don't see how Sam Raimi would be interested in him. He's not a classic villain.

i agree Kraven has to be somewhere in this film, since it centers on The Lizard, that was my only major disappointment about the treatment and the opening lines.
Perfect villains - Lizard, Kraven & Roderick Kingsley.
Since Rourke ain't slated to be Kraven i reckon they should get Beneico Del Toro

I really think it's going to be the Lizard and Kraven or the Lizard and Electro.

Well Todd Black said back in June that Morbius won't be a/the villain. So we don't have to worry about that. We also know back in March when Mickey Rourke was cast as Whiplash in Iron Man 2, Sony wanted him for a/the villain in Spider-Man 4. That villain was obviously Kraven the hunter.

Well i know he portrayed interest from around after part 3 in using the Lizard, because he felt it was time to use Connor and give him his story, and plus side its a story the fans have been urging for.
There was further news of him being interested in bringing in the Sinister Six, that still may happen as for he stated that Spider-man 5 & 6 are back to back features.
He once stated on using Carnage but with a PG-13 certificate, once he saw the fan reaction, he lost interest in the whole concept.
Lastly he portrayed interest in using Morbius, which me personally think is a bad thing, because...
First of all
Vampires don't fit into the whole spiderman universe.
Secondly
It sounded like he was trying to cash cow in the whole Vampires are the next big thing because of Twilight.
Thirdly and finally
Morbius deserves his own movie along with the rest of the Midnight Sons team

Cripple
I would really like to see mysterio. And we need more venom.
2 years agoby @crippleFlag
J.A.Ottley.Writer / Director
It is just lizard.
How i know its not fake, because the same treatment is on Abataire WGA page, so there is no way its a fake unless Abataire himself is a fake.
Its possible they could have improvised it from then on, but then it will probably turn out the same way as SM3.
SM3 was just originally meant to be Sandman & New Goblin with the symbiote ending with it stating that Venom was still alive.
But then they brought in venom for the last 2 drafts, henceforth why it didn't work and why he had so little screen time.
He was mainly introduced because of the fan demand and uproar.
