Sony Readying Men in Black III

The ShoWest annual convention was kicked off in Las Vegas yesterday and a big bit of news has come forward from the convention floor today. Collider is reporting that Sony Pictures is moving forward with a third Men In Black film.

The announcement was made at the Sony presentation by Rory Bruer, president of Sony Worldwide Distribution, who also mentioned the studio was currently working on Ghostbusters 3 and Spider-Man 4 right now.

It was said that Bruer did mention the year 2011 in regards to the film, but it wasn't clear if that was when they were targeting these three films for release or not. We'll be sure to keep you posted on this breaking story as soon as more information comes in.

Men In Black was released July 2nd, 1997 and stars Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith, Linda Fiorentino, Vincent D'Onofrio, Rip Torn, Tony Shalhoub, Siobhan Fallon, Mike Nussbaum. The film is directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.

forrestgump1: if you want to see original ideas, look for inde films that win over small town film festivals. Or look up inde films online. Like while most of horrorfest flicks are bad, they're original at times. Same goes for sci-fi flicks of the same thing.

That's the thing. I'm not so sure that Mr. Jones & Mr. Smith are up for a third outing after the flop of MIIB. But I guess the scriptwriters can learn from their mistakes by comparing/contrasting the first 2 films to see what was good & bad about each of them, to thus make the new one better.

They need to step it up on this one. The second was a complete let down, taking a more comedic route. The tone needs to be more like the first.

Hmmmm, i get the feeling this is an April Fool's story, Why release this on April Fools, after both Smith & Jones stated the franchise was dead and that they couldn't think of a wayt to continue the story/franchise.
Also Smith has a got a lot of films going at the moment i'll doubt he'll be able to squeeze in an installment to a dead franchise.

Also it doesn't state that Smith & Jones are returning to reprise their roles, i doubt they will, it's been left to long.
Sony's top film priority at the moment is Spiderman 4 and then Ghostbusters 3 with an array of other films which i doubt include MIB3.

it doesn't matter how Lee is, he can still do his sh*t. Just look at Eastwood. I blame the tv show for f*cking up the second film for me. It seemed like it revolved to much around the show. This third one will be very different. I know if Smith and lee aren't in it, then i can count on this just being a direct to dvd film.
