Sony Pictures Jumps Into a Frozen River

Sony Picture Classics has bought the domestic rights to the Sundance dramatic entry Frozen River. According to Variety, the film was written and directed by Courtney Hunt

The story is based in upstate New York. It centers around a woman who is caught between poverty and human trafficking. William Morris Independent was a representative for the film at the Sundance Film Festival.

A domestic release from Sony Pictures Classics has yet to be announced.

Frozen River was released August 1st, 2008 and stars Melissa Leo, Misty Upham, Charlie McDermott, Michael O'Keefe, Mark Boone Junior, James Reilly, Jay Klaitz, John Canoe. The film is directed by Courtney Hunt.
