Sony Pictures Classics Acquires The Italian

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American rights to director Andrei Kravchuk's The Italian, Russia's submission for a foreign-language film Oscar.

Set in 1942, the film centers on an abandoned 5-year-old boy living in a rundown orphanage in a small Russian village who is chosen by an Italian family for adoption. Lenfilm, together with Tulos Cinema, produced the film.
