Sony Pictures and Sony Home Entertainment has picked up the Cannes Festival hit film, Southland Tales from director Richard Kelly.

The film is set in a postapocalyptic Los Angeles, 2008 in the middle of a major heat wave; The Hollywood Reporter adds that it stars Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Seann William Scott.

No word on a distribution date for Southland Tales, or which company will distribute.

Southland Tales was released November 14th, 2007 and stars Carlos Amezcua, Curtis Armstrong, Robert Benz, Todd Berger, Dave Carlin, Joe Campana, Chris Andrew Ciulla, Rebekah Del Rio. The film is directed by Richard Kelly.
