Sony Lets Out The Green Hornet
Nearly two years away from the release of Columbia Pictures' The Green Hornet on June 25, 2010, the Sony-owned studio has just released the logo for the comic book adaptation that has Seth Rogen set in the title role. The action adventure, co-written by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, will bring to life the story of the masked fictional crime fighter and expert marksman and his similarly masked Japanese martial-arts ally Kato.

The Green Hornet was released January 14th, 2011 and stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Tom Wilkinson, Christoph Waltz, David Harbour, Edward James Olmos, Jamie Harris. The film is directed by Michel Gondry.

Seth Rogen as The Green Hornet... Seth has a subtle humor about him that makes him hilarious to me, much like a Ben Stiller. But in a serious role, I can't say, I can't really imagine it. But then again, I couldn't really imagine Robert Downey Jr. as "Iron Man" either and I was pleasantly surprised. Iron Man is a far cry from Green Hornet. This seems to be a re-imagining of the hero and his partner Kato. And honestly, it was Kato that everyone tuned in to watch. When Bruce Lee made the role famous Kato always ran out front, he protected and saved the Hornet. Yet it was The Green Hornet that got all the credit. I could see someone like a Jason Stathem in the role of Green Hornet. One that can hold his own. Make him more than a marksman. The physical type... We've seen him in a suit as the Transporter, he has the look as well. But Reid was always the intellectual, exposing the criminal underworld with his newspaper. Kato was the man of action and obedient partner. If they hold true to the character of the Hornet, I think Rogen may just pull it off. Not much is required. As for Kato, I'd like to see an unknown make a breakthrough in the role. But if it had to be someone to put a face to it my vote would be the Jade Emperor from the Forbidden Kingdom. Either way, before I try to form an opinion I'd like to see what direction it's actually going in. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the development of it.

Darko
What a joke. Next, they'll cast Mini-Me from Austin Powers to play Kato

I hope they didn't pay the guy who designed this logo cause it's pretty generic.

This has to be a comedy with funny fatman Seth Rogen playing the lead superhero...it makes no sense otherwise.

Seth Rogen is a funny guy but... i don't see him as the Green Hornet. If this is gonna be an action flick then get an action star... it it's gonna be a comedy than get someone better suited for the role. Someone tall, thin... maybe Jim Carrey or someone like that.

interesting choice in regards to Seth Rogan.... as far as the Green Hornet character himself, well, if done right it could be a really good flic. We'll just have to wait and see.

That's a pretty kick ass logo. I think they should have held up on putting seth's name on it though. I don't doubt him, but others might look at that and say "Cool log...wait, seth rogan? That fat ass is playing the hornet?" lol
