Sony Buys The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
The picture stars the late Heath Ledger and was directed by Terry Gilliam. It also features Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell. The actors replaced Ledger in a bunch of fantasy scenes after the actor died midway through the January 2008 production.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was initially screened at the Cannes Film Festival in an out-of-competition slot. A lot of buyers circled the film but all of them eventually passed.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was released December 25th, 2009 and stars Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, Heath Ledger, Christopher Plummer, Jude Law, Lily Cole, Peter Stormare, Tom Waits. The film is directed by Terry Gilliam.

Yet now, more than a year and a half after Ledger's untimely death that shocked the world, how will his performance be viewed?
His presence in the trailer feels oddly dated, as if the movie was released long ago and we are now being awoken to it for the first time. The film follows a classic 'Faust'-esque tale of trading ones soul to the devil for eternal life. One can't help but wonder whether his appearence, especially in light of the film's themes, will resonate with viewers as it did in The Dark Knight so shortly after his passing.

Glad it got a decent distributor, though it's not like it was hard: everybody will pay to watch a dead man dance. It's why the Dark Knight did so well.

Cant wait to see this film. Big fan of Ledger and have heard good things about this film during the Cannes Film Festival this year.
