Snow White and the Huntsman sequel put on the fast track at Universal
After over-performing at the box office last weekend with an impressive $56.2 million, Universal Pictures is fast-tracking a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman.

We reported back in April that the studio hired screenwriter David Koepp to draft the sequel, nearly a full month before the movie even opened in theaters. Now Universal is in early talks with director Rupert Sanders to return for this follow-up. The filmmaker is interested in helming the sequel, and he doesn't have another project lined up, but the deal still isn't finalized yet.

Actors Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, and Charlize Theron all have deals in place to return for the sequel.

Snow White and the Huntsman was released June 1st, 2012 and stars Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin, Sam Spruell, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone. The film is directed by Rupert Sanders.

I enjoyed it, it felt grand and fantastical in a "Inspired by The Lord of The Rings" kinda way... you could tell the feel they were going for, and most of the cast was just great, I still have a bit of an issue with the line delivery from Kristin Stewart, but I guess she looks the part lol

@slysnide I think they were just confident that it would do well in the box office, and so far it has done pretty well. It has made $82.9 million in the U.S. so far, and $129.6 million world wide, and this is only its second week in the theaters.

The film wasn't that good. Sequelizing it before it was even released sounds like the studios are out of ideas or are too lazy to seek out new ones.

@themoviefanatic Obviously not. They wouldn't ever drown a horse even if CGI didn't exist...

I'll give it a thumbs up simply because I'm interested in where they plan to go. And by what I read, looks like the Queen is far from dead, and no doubt the relationship between Christ and Kristen will be explored

I'd see a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, as long as there's not another horse drowning scene like in Snow White and the Huntsman. I couldn't stand seeing that in the movie at all, because that was just awful to watch. I know that didn't actually happen though, because of the cgi that was involved for that.
