It was supposed to be a simple birthday weekend in Southern California. But when sunrise arrives two hours early in the form of a haunting light from an unknown source, a group of friends watch in terror as people across the city are drawn outside and swept into massive alien ships that have blotted out the L.A. skyline. From tankers to drones and hydra-like extraterrestrials, the aliens are inescapable and seemingly indestructible. Now, it will take every survival instinct the group has to elude capture in this riveting, action-packed sci-fi adventure starring Eric Balfour (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Donald Faison (Scrubs) and Scottie Thompson (Star Trek).

I know if alot of u were Movie Critics or professionals who review these movies b4 audience do. That if u didnt like it. u would'nt let it go into theaters, if the movie wasnt good to me i would give em the "str8 to dvd" sign. if it was good, then theaters it is.. that way every1 of u get ur money worth..

True about the awards thing. And then there's movies like avatar..who goes back to theaters with in months, all just because it re-added 9mins or so of screen time.. Ya know i know now a days its all about money when it comes to making movies, how things are going imax, 3d, avatar-mode, or watever. But u would think if a director really wants to profit off of such movie that he would get it right atleast. Why spent his time, the actors' time, and ours, by making a really stupid movie? And then on top of that These fukin Critics who review these movies b4 we do.. dont give him the "STOP SIGN" IF they didnt approve of it. after seeing it..

@JonSpidey07 And some get pushed into DVD/Blu Ray release sooner for awards considerations, to keep them fresh in people's minds. Such as Social Network, which should be arriving the mail tomorrow morning for me :)

    to answer your question:
alot of movies that dont do well commericially and financially leave the theater in a month or so
a film bombs in the theater it comes out faster on DVD
a film does extremely well it'll stay longer in the theater (some studios do make certain exceptions however)
Marmaduke for example was released last June and was on DVD in August
the estimated time gap for a DVD release is typically 4-5 months but today its shorter

i do i do.... jk. well i never seen it so i'll prob rent it. not everybody has the same likes. to sum it can b a stupid film while to others it can b a good1, just depends how open people's minds r that dont expect a movie to b 5 stars. thats prob why i liked gi joe and tf2, cause i had an open mind going in.
