MTV cancels Skins after just one season
"Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn't connect with a US audience as much as we had hoped. We admire the work that the series' creator Bryan Elsley did in adapting the show for MTV, and appreciate the core audience that embraced it."
The show seemed to be in danger of cancellation right from the start. We reported back in January that several advertisers such as Taco Bell, Wrigley, Subway, Foot Locker, L'Oreal and Schick pulled their ads from the reality series after just two episodes. Skins also suffered a sharp ratings decline as well. 3.3 million viewers tuned into the premiere, but only 1.2 million viewers were watching during the season/series finale.
Our report from January also noted that the Parents Television Council spoke out against the show, even calling for Congress to investigate the show on allegations of child pornography. An investigation was never launched.

mtv had to prove their point - "we don't care about anybody" - and now the inevititable has finally come around. they quietly cancel it mid-offseason hoping their failed series fades away quietly without anyone noticing. stupid execs.
