Sin City Takes the Top Spot Once Again

According to The Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks Home Entertainment's The Ring Two might have narrowly outpaced Buena Vista Home Entertainment's Sin City at the boxoffice, but its first-week DVD sales weren't enough to bump the stylish thriller from the top of the preliminary national sales chart for the week ending Aug. 28.

The sequel to the horror hit The Ring debuted at No. 2 on VideoScan's First Alert sales chart, while Sin City retained the top spot for the second consecutive week.

The Ring Two also bowed at No. 2 on Home Media Retailing's rental chart for the week ending Aug. 28, trounced by another new release, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Beauty Shop, which grossed less than half as much at the boxoffice, $36.3 million compared with $75.9 million for The Ring Two.

The Ring Two was released March 18th, 2005 and stars Naomi Watts, Simon Baker, David Dorfman, Elizabeth Perkins, Gary Cole, Sissy Spacek, Ryan Merriman, Emily VanCamp. The film is directed by Hideo Nakata.

Sin City was released April 1st, 2005 and stars Jessica Alba, Devon Aoki, Alexis Bledel, Powers Boothe, Cara D. Briggs, Jude Ciccolella, Jeffrey J. Dashnaw, Rosario Dawson. The film is directed by Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino.
