Sin City 2 Is Not Moving Out of Dimension's Realm

It seems that a long-awaited sequel might be moving forward, but without the original studio. IESB.net is reporting that The Weinstein Company and their genre arm Dimension Films have let the rights to Sin City 2 expire. Here's an excerpt from their article.

The specifics are not clear but some details are emerging that the movie will now be financed by a private equity group and an announcement is expected soon.

Robert Rodriguez' Trouble Maker studios will still produce the film.

No word on what studio may end up distributing. Universal Studios' name has come up as a possible contender.

You'd think this project would be in the can by now after the success of the original 4yrs ago this month...but NNOOOO. They shoulda gotten a jump on this a long time ago. Seeing as Dimension has produced alotta forgettable flicks that I can't even recall since the first Sin City was released. I mean seriously, they coulda already jumped on the bandwagon for Volume III by now.

Bigger studio could mean bigger budget, but Rodriguez is a low budget director and has always been one.
