Simon West to Direct Jason Statham in The Mechanic Remake

It seems that that another remake is moving forward with Jason Statham under the hood. According to Production Weekly, Simon West is in negotiations to direct a remake of The Mechanic with Jason Statham to star.

The original 1972 film starred Charles Bronson as a contract killer ready to retire from the game when he takes on a young apprentice, played by Jan-Michael Vincent, when it becomes clear that they were double-crossed and have to survive.

It wasn't clear which studio this new remake was for and we'll surely keep you posted on any developments surrounding this remake.

I don't really have a problem when they remake action flicks, because most of them can be good, although they'll never live up to the original. It's the horror remakes i hate.

I usually get mad about remakes, but this sounds pretty good.
