Ain't It Cool News has reported that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) will portray Thomson and Thompson in director Steven Spielberg's Tintin.

Produced by Peter Jackson, the movie will be animated with motion-capture technology and star Andy Serkis as Tintin's friend Captain Haddock. Thomas Sangster was previously set to play Tintin but had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts. A new Tintin has not been announced.

DreamWorks' first Tintin feature, targeted for a 2010 release, will be based on two of the books, "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "Red Rackham's Treasure," written by Tintin creator Herge between 1942 and 1944.

The second film Tintin 2 will be directed by Jackson.

The Adventures of Tintin was released December 21st, 2011 and stars Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Jamie Bell, Cary Elwes, Andy Serkis, Nick Frost, Tony Curran, Sebastian Roché. The film is directed by Steven Spielberg.

    suddenly im interested in this movie.
    not just because of peg and frost but also andy serkis, that guy is great in everything regardless to whether he is hidden by cgi or not.

    There's some good names on here, I'll have to see it. But I can't say I've heard of anything the film is based off of, so I'll probably be seeing it just because of Pegg and Frost. Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz are some of the best comedy movies out there!

    Ok i like this idea and Frost & Pegg really capture the actual comic characters, Pegg is actually quite perfect for the main character.

    But announcing Tintin 2 before the first film hasn't even finished pre-production is a little over the top.
    What IF this blows in the box-office or doesn't meet the studios profit expectations to be privileged a sequel?

    And yes i know and am aware it's Jackson & Spielberg
