Silent Hill 2 Writer Roger Avary Sentenced to One Year in Jail

A recently-announced sequel might have hit a new stumbling block. The Associated Press is reporting that Silent Hill 2 screenwriter Roger Avary has been sentenced to a year in jail, stemming from a drunk-driving accident that took the life of a passenger.

Avary was arrested after the 2008 crash in Ventura County where his Mercedes crashed into a telephone pole, going in excess of 100 mph. Avary pled guilty in August to gross vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving and, along with his yearlong jail sentence, Avary was sentenced to five years probation.

It isn't quite clear yet how Avary's sentencing will affect Silent Hill 2, which was announced two weeks ago. However, when originally announced, it was said that production on the film was set to start as early as next year.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new developments regarding the progress of a Silent Hill 2 sequel.

    Hey Hey Hey!!! Now Why is everyone rushing to the victim's defense? For all we know Avary took out a potential child molester or terrorist, we should be proud of this man! The "Passanger" or as I alike to call it " MURDERING PSYCHOPATH CHILD TOUCHER" probobly told Avary when he was drinking who he really was and then Avary, being the well minded lad that he was said, "F*ck this, you're not touching my kid you prick!" and then floored it to 100mph and aimed right for said telephone pole and took the monster out saving not only himself but thousands of preschools everywhere!

    1 Year? That's it? I had a friend who went to prison for 1 year for graffiti. And this guy kills someone?! What bullsh*t. He should have at least gotten 5-10 years. I mean, he took another life (by accident) and only has to do 1 year jailtime? Our system is so f*cking retarded. It's only because he is a "big shot" hollywood guy.

    A year, one f*cking year for taking a life. Are you f*cking kidding me? Michael Vick abuses some dumb ass dogs and allows dog fighting on his premises gets two years in prison and still getting sh*t thrown at him, which he shouldn't even had went to jail for, but someone who kills an actual human being they get one year. Wow, this justice system is so f*cked up. No wonder Roman Polanski fled.
