Shrek the Third Tops the International Box Office

Shrek the Third has shot to the top of the worldwide box office charts this weekend. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the family comedy earned an estimated $46 million on 3,693 screen, playing in 36 different regional areas. So far, it has earned $107 internationally. If you add in the U.S. grosses, that puts the film at $404 million globally.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End came in second with $32.6 million. That puts its overseas grosses at $547 million. It has now become the tenth highest grossing foreign release of all time.

Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, while topping the U.S. charts, came in forth place with $25.4 million. That puts its global total at $82.8 million.

Shrek the Third was released May 18th, 2007 and stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Rupert Everett, Eric Idle. The film is directed by Chris Miller, Raman Hui.
