Shrek the Third Nabs $48.6 Million Overseas

Shrek the Third was number one at the world's box office this weekend for the second week in a row. According to Variety, it took in $48.6 million, which brings it overseas cumulative gross to $172 million. If you add in its U.S. box office take, the film has made a world profit of $479 million.

Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, Ocean's Thirteen, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End each made $20 million apiece. The four films combined brought in an impressive $112 million.

U.S. box office winner Evan Almighty opened with a respectable $1.7 million in Russia and the Ukraine. It will open in more territories next month.

Shrek the Third was released May 18th, 2007 and stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Rupert Everett, Eric Idle. The film is directed by Chris Miller, Raman Hui.
