Short Circuit Gets Director Tim Hill

Tim Hill will direct the Short Circuit remake
The Dimension Films remake Short Circuit is starting to show signs of life once more, with Tim Hill (Hop) signing on to direct.

We last reported on this remake back in October 2009, when Steve Carr came aboard to direct from Dan Milano's script. Now Tim Hill will supervise the writing of a new screenplay, although it isn't known if a writer is attached yet.

David Foster, who produced the original Short Circuit, is on board to produce the remake along with Ryan E. Heppe and John Hyde.

It seems they're starting from scratch on this Short Circuit remake, so it may be quite some time before we see this in theaters, although they are certainly moving in the right direction. The original Short Circuit centers on a robot dubbed Johnny 5 who develops human feelings after being struck by lightning.

Short Circuit comes to theaters in 2013. The film is directed by Tim Hill.

I haven't seen the original, but this does sound interested, aside from the fact that this guy directed "Hop".
